Google Cloud API Setup

One-time setup to power the scanner (takes about 5 minutes)

Create a Google Cloud Project

Go to console.cloud.google.com and click "New Project." Name it something like "Roof Scanner."

Enable Required APIs

From the project dashboard, go to "APIs & Services" > "Enable APIs." Search for and enable each:

  • Solar API — roof measurements
  • Geocoding API — address to coordinates
  • Maps JavaScript API — address autocomplete
  • Maps Embed API — satellite map in report

Enable Billing

Solar API requires an active billing account. Google provides $200/month free credit which covers thousands of scans.

Create an API Key

Go to "APIs & Services" > "Credentials" > "Create Credentials" > "API Key." Copy the key.

Paste It Above

Click "API Settings" at the top of this page, paste your key, and hit Save. It's stored locally in your browser only.
