The most popular roof on Florida homes — compare product lines, colors, and warranties from the three brands we’re factory-certified to install.

The most popular roof on Florida homes — cost-effective, fast to install, and available in dozens of colors. We’re factory-certified for all three of the brands below. Start with the comparison table to narrow your look, then open a brand to see every product line, color family, and warranty — straight from the manufacturer’s official resources.

This season’s featured shingle colors

Your roof is roughly 40% of everything people see when they look at your house — it is the single largest block of color on the exterior, and it is the one you live with for 20 to 25 years. Choose it against what is already there: your siding or stucco, your brick or stone, your trim, your front door, and the roofs on either side of you.

Two things surprise homeowners every time. First, a shingle looks lighter on a roof than it does in your hand, because you are seeing it in full Florida sun across a large sloped plane instead of as a 6-inch sample. Second, darker roofs read heavier and can visually shrink a one-story house, while mid-tones tend to flatter almost anything. Below are the three colors we are featuring this season. Screens lie about color — your project manager brings the real thing to your free inspection so you can hold it against your own wall in daylight.

2026 Shingle Color of the Year

Evergreen Mist

Evergreen Mist swatch, close up — approx. #6B6D64

In daylight Evergreen Mist reads as a soft, muted green with grey and warm earth running through it — closer to weathered sage than to a bold forest green. Early and late in the day the green comes forward; at noon under hard Florida sun it settles back toward a warm grey-green. That range is the whole point of the color, and it is why it does not fight with the landscaping.

It pairs best with cream, white, and soft-yellow siding, with red or buff brick, and with natural stone. Keep the trim light — white or cream trim is what makes the green register as a deliberate choice rather than a faded roof. Owens Corning built it for low-country farmhouses, Cape Cods, and coastal cottages, and that is exactly where it lands in our market: Parrish and Lakewood Ranch farmhouse elevations, and the older cottage stock closer to the water.

This is the adventurous pick of the three. If you want your roof to be something people notice and comment on, and your HOA allows it, this is the one.

Williamsburg Gray

TruDefinition® Duration®

Williamsburg Gray swatch, close up — approx. #4B4B4D

Williamsburg Gray is a slate grey carrying threads of near-black and a little earthy brown, which is what keeps it from going flat or blue. On a roof it reads as a clean, confident mid-to-dark grey with visible dimension in the shadow lines — you can see the laminate texture from the curb rather than one solid sheet of color.

It is the most forgiving color on this board. It works over white, grey, blue, and greige siding, over white or grey stucco, and over almost any brick, and it handles both black and white trim without a fight. Traditional two-story elevations, transitional new builds, and Lakewood Ranch stucco homes all take it well.

This is the safe, resale-friendly choice — the one to pick when you want the roof to look sharp and correct without becoming the main event, or when you are selling within a few years and want the broadest possible appeal.

Black Shadow

Pinnacle® Pristine

Black Shadow swatch, close up — approx. #353433

Black Shadow is not a flat black. It is a dimensional near-black: a dark charcoal base with lighter grey granules mixed through, so in direct sun it opens up and you read the individual shingle courses, while in shade or under cloud it closes down to something very close to true black. That blend is what stops a dark roof from looking like a painted tarp.

It is the highest-contrast choice here and it wants that contrast. Put it over white, light grey, or soft yellow siding with white trim and it looks crisp and modern — the pairing Atlas themselves promote. Over dark siding it can get heavy and swallow the elevation. Modern farmhouses, coastal contemporary builds, and anything with strong white trim and black window frames are its natural home.

Worth knowing for Florida: a black roof does absorb more heat than a light one. In our experience proper attic ventilation matters far more to your cooling bill than shingle color does, but if energy is your priority we should talk about Atlas Pinnacle Sun or a lighter color instead of talking you into this one.

Class 3 (UL 2218)

Black Shadow is a stock Pinnacle Pristine color. It is not an Atlas “color of the year” — Atlas features it as a pairing for the 2026 Pantone color, which is a different thing.
